Nicola MacPhail - Managing Partner
With a passion for property and after assessing the current estate agency/letting agency models offering to buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants, Nicola set up West Lettings in 2011. Since then she expanded the business to include estate agency with huge success. With a drive to provide the very best service and supported by her excellent team of knowledgeable and efficient staff, West Property offers friendly, personal and professional property services across Argyll, Lochaber and the islands. A landlord herself, in addition to having both NFOPP Technical Awards in Property Sales & Property Management and being an Associate of the Institute of Property Managers, Nicola has a wealth of knowledge in the purchase, sale, lettings and management of property. With a love of the great outdoors, rock climbing and a keen runner, she can be found out running or walking (in all weathers!) with Milo, her Jack Russell. In her spare time, Nicola enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking and travel.
Rhona Forbes - Office Manager
As our longest serving Manager, Rhona now has a broad remit across many aspects of the business and assists Nicola in the day to day running of the Oban Office, Accounts and Payroll. She brings a wealth of property knowledge to the business with years of experience in the sector and having project managed two self builds from plot purchase, through planning and on to practical completion. This understanding is invaluable when dealing with local contractors and resolving any issues which may develop. The awareness is also very useful when it comes to addressing queries from professionals, clients, tenants and the general public. A mother of four, her family are a constant source of inspiration and pride which demand a lot of her time. That said she enjoys exploring our local landscape cycling and hillwalking with her husband and dog, while pursuing her interests in Scottish History. She enjoys nature across the region and can often be found in her polytunnel at weekends, enjoying the flora and fauna.
Chermaine Laurie - Lettings Manager
Chermaine is our Lettings Manager, she oversees the management of our entire rental property portfolio. A graduate of the Strathclyde Business School with a degree in Management Science and having grown up on the Isle of Mull, Chermaine brings an excellent mix of local knowledge and expertise to the team. As a fluent Gaelic speaker she is on hand to assist us with some of those tricky Gaelic house names! Chermaine has completed the NFOPP Award in Residential Letting & Property Management. An invaluable member of the team, her extensive knowledge and experience ensure the efficient and comprehensive management of our client’s properties. Chermaine manages our fantastic Lettings Team who oversee the maintenance of all our rental properties across Argyll, the Isle of Mull and Fort William. She is the main contact for our Landlord clients and her tasks include accounts and billing for the rental properties, arranging contractor repairs and co-ordinating the team to ensure each and every property is maintained to the very best standard. Prior to joining West, Chermaine had completed an operations placement in London, with J.P Morgan and spent a year in North Carolina, USA on a football scholarship touring all over the East Coast. Chermaine loves living on the West Coast and in her spare time enjoys travelling, spending time with her friends and family.
Rebecca McRitchie - Property Manager
Rebecca is one of our Property Managers, overseeing the maintenance of our property portfolio. Originally from rural Aberdeenshire, Rebecca moved South to Edinburgh in 2009 to study Translation at Heriot Watt University. Her academic career enabled her to travel and live in both Belgium and Spain for one year where she practiced her French and Spanish before graduating in 2013. After graduating, Rebecca entered into hospitality before quickly moving on to start her career in the property sector. Working for an Edinburgh agent, she progressed from an administrative assistant to Property Manager within 2 years. Rebecca was responsible for managing a portfolio of almost 300 properties from 1 bed studio flats to 5 bed student HMO properties. Rebecca boasts a thorough knowledge of all aspects of property letting including property legislation, tenant referencing, lease documentation and maintenance management. Her keen attention to detail, proactive approach and friendly manner allow her to effectively manage our rapidly expanding portfolio and she is now formalising her experience by completing the NFOPP Award in Residential Letting & Property management. In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys exploring the West Coast. A keen hillwalker, she is already set to ticking more Munros off her list. When not on top of a mountain, Rebecca enjoys running, camping and in the winter months skiing in Europe.
Julie Fraser - Property Manager
Julie is our Fort William Property Manager. Originally starting out in hotel management and then working 19 years in procurement before starting with West, she does not shy away from new challenges and hard work. Predominantly based in our Fort William office, Julie offers the combination of in-depth local knowledge married with professional efficiency and attention to detail, ensuring our client’s properties are maintained in excellent condition. As part of the Lettings Team, her role invoves managing our rapidly expanding property portfolio in Fort William. Her tasks include completing viewings, reviewing applications, dealing with tenant repair requests, routine inspections, property maintenance and being on hand for any issues. Currently completing the NFOPP Award in Residential Letting & Property Management Julie is formalising her knowledge of property management. Her professional manner is balanced with a quick sense of humour, that keeps us chuckling in the office. A mother of two grown up children, Julie enjoys spending time with her family, is a keen golfer and enjoys travelling abroad.
Lucy Hallett - Sales Manager
Lucy our Sales Manager at West Property. She works closely with Nicola & Jodi managing our sales portfolio and looks after our many sales clients. After growing up in Argyll and attending Lochgilphead High School, Lucy moved to Yorkshire where she has gained experience selling property in a busy estate agents in England. Always smiling, she is on hand to chat to buyers about all our properties, calling prospective buyers, answering any property queries and works tirelessly to negotiate the best offers for clients. She also deals with the sales progression, liaising with solicitors to ensure sales complete on time and is on hand to assist should issues arise. Her friendly and happy manner is a pleasure in our busy office and her “can do” attitude ensures she can effortlessly deal with any tricky negotiations or issues for our clients. To formalise her training Lucy is completing the NFOPP Award in Sale of Residential Property in Scotland. In her spare time, Lucy is a keen sailor, spending many a sunny evening and weekend out exploring the many lochs and yachting routes around Argyll with her family. She also enjoys horse riding and teaching people on their own horses.
Jodi MacLean - Estate Agent
Jodi is our Estate Agent based on the beautiful Isle of Mull. Jodi has a degree in French and Spanish from the University of the West of Scotland, which included a year working in Menorca as teaching assistant. Following university, she spent a winter working as an au-pair at a ski resort near Grenoble in France before coming home and settling on Mull. Jodi brings her experience and in-depth local knowledge, having worked in the local property market addressing housing issues for young islanders before joining West. Her love of the Isle of Mull and property knowledge makes her ideally placed to help locals buyers and those from afar find their perfect island home. Having completed her NFOPP Award in Sale of Residential Property in Scotland Jodi’s role includes attending viewings, property appraisals, marketing photography, preparing particulars, dealing with enquiries, working hard negotiating offers and overseeing sales through to completion. Her excellent communication skills and friendly manner means she is always happy to assist with any client queries, property enquiries and enjoys talking about the island and all it has to offer to potential buyers. In her spare time, Jodi is a bit of a foodie, enjoying eating out and trying new restaurants. She also loves walking, yoga and helping her partner on the family farm.
